Embracing the Uncertain A Lenten Study for Unsteady Times
Please consider joining us Sundays at 11:15 AM in the Pierce Room for what should prove to be an unusual Lenten series.
We are basing our series on this Magrey deVega book that explores stories from the Gospels that deal with ‘uncertainty’. In our highly technological, sometimes violent and unpredictable world, there are few guarantees in life. As Christ-followers, we must learn how to embrace uncertainty and make the radical decision to follow Jesus despite the many unknowns we face.
Not necessary to attend our Sunday classes, but if you would like to have the book, you can pick it up at the signup desk in the Narthex for a $8.00 suggested donation.
There are 7 lessons in the book so we will start the Sunday BEFORE Ash Wednesday and finish the Sunday BEFORE Easter:
- Sunday, Feb 11: Chapter 1: The Desperate Father & the Uncertainty of Faith. (Mark 9:14-29)
- Sunday, Feb 18: Chapter 2: Peter and the Uncertainty of Forgiveness (Matthew 18:21-22)
- Sunday, Feb 25: Chapter 3: The Crowd and the Uncertainty of Worry (Luke 12:1-34)
- Sunday, Mar 3: Chapter 4: Lazarus and the Uncertainty of Mortality (John 11:1-44
- Sunday, Mar 10: Chapter 5: Zacchaeus and the Uncertainty of Surrender (Luke 19:1-10)
- Sunday, Mar 17: Chapter 6: Jesus and the Uncertainty of Obedience (Matthew 26:36-46)
- Sunday, Mar 24: Chapter 7: The Empty Tomb & Proof of the Resurrection (Matt 28:1-7; Mark 16:1-8; Luke 24:1-12; John 20:1-18)

Presented by the Creation Care Team at Southminster.
Not sure how to set up a composting bin in your yard? You may have questions: How much dirt? How much green matter? How often do I water it? Will it smell and attract critters to my yard? What’s allowed? What’s not allowed?
We have the answers to your questions! Two composting experts from the Illinois Extension will present a talk on Wednesday, May 8 at 7 pm. Come join us and bring your composting questions!
