Coming soon to Southminster: an Environmental Team!

Do you and your kids/grandkids like to support endangered birds and bees? Do they talk about clean air and water in school and other environmental issues? Now we all have a chance to act on our interests in protecting God’s creation! Bring your children/ grandchildren ages 8 and up to hear Dan Huntsha, from Faith in Place, an Interfaith Environmental Group speak about forming a group at Southminster on Sunday, June 4 from 11:00-12:30pm in the Chapel! Listen to Dan as he shares resources about many environmental areas. If you would like to be on the ground floor of this family-friendly environmental group, fill out a paper survey to list your areas of interest. Dan will serve as our group’s guide. He will coach us as we form a plan of action. If you would like to be a part of a group that supports protecting and taking care of our Earth, join us!

Added bonus! If you have little ones, childcare will be provided until 12:30 pm.

It is practiced at a relaxed pace appropriate for all experience levels, and includes quiet reflection at the beginning and end of each class. Simply bring a mat and an open heart!

About “The Chosen”—Season 3

As the biggest crowdfunded project in TV history (currently almost $4,000,000 raised), “The Chosen” is the first-ever multi-season show about the life of Jesus. This series allows viewers to see the life of Jesus through the eyes of those that knew Him or heard his teaching.  Each lesson takes you deeper into the gospel stories by retelling and then expounding on the character and intentions of Jesus and those who interacted with him.

Each Sunday we will watch a 15-20 minute version edited from the full 1 hour lesson and then discuss what we saw.  We hope that by seeing how Jesus’ teaching affected the people around him, we may each gain new insight into what Jesus wants us to be doing today.  Please come and join us:

• June 11: Lesson 1: Forgiving the way Jesus does
• June 18: Lesson 2: Going when and where Jesus says to go
• June 25: Lesson 3: Grieving what Jesus grieves
