Come experience the mind-calming, body-affirming benefits of yoga with the life-giving breath of the Holy Spirit! Grace Unfolding is a unique, Christ-centered yoga class that weaves in prayer, Scripture and Christian music to help you tap into and deepen your connection to the Lord as you stretch and strengthen your body. It is practiced at a relaxed pace appropriate for all experience levels, and includes quiet reflection at the beginning and end of each class. Simply bring a mat and an open heart! A zoom option is available, class is held in the Chapel.

Southminster Moms Night out on Thursday, July 18th will be at Metropolis in Arlington Heights! We will be seeing Million Dollar Quartet at the 7:30 pm show. Tickets are $49 and limited so please email Jill at jill@spcah.org as soon as possible to save your seat.

Come and watch the Gospel of Mark as it was meant to be heard, in its entirety!  Actor, Mark Huddle, will bring the Gospel to life and you will be inspired, and gain new insight by hearing the Gospel from beginning to end. 

ARTIST BIO: Mark Huddle has appeared in numerous plays in Chicago, including King Lear, Hamlet, Scissortail, Insert Heart Here, S.F.B., and The Treasure of Ferson Creek. Mark is a lifelong artist, with an MFA in painting and drawing. He sings in the St. Pauls chancel choir and has also been seen practicing law and karate.

Two Uniquely Different Musical Events on Sundays August 18 and August 25

August 18 11:15 AM:  Come hear Marshall Hjertstedt perform a different kind of music, some of his original songs that put life in perspective.  His original song, Merry-Go-Round sums up his life as a musician and his approach to songwriting, “I’ve got something to say, but I just don’t know how to say it.  So I wrote this song.”  Song writing became a way to condense and express the emotions the world stirs up in us all, a way to put life in perspective.  Marshall will have his CDs to buy with the donations going to the church. Be sure to come and hear this treasure within our own midst!  To learn more about Marshall see More about Marshall Hjertstedt: below!

August 25 11:15 AM:  “Old hymns of Faith Sing along”  The old hymns of Faith tell stories in a melodic, unique way.   Bill Bauza will accompany his wife Marg’s singing.  We’ll project the lyrics on the screen.   If there’s a favorite you wish to hear,  let Bill (bauza2015@comcast.net)  or Marg know ahead of time so we’ll have the lyrics ready too.   An old-fashioned hymn sing will bring smiles to everyone’s face!

You may think you know him, someone who plays the guitar and sings nearly every Sunday for Southminster. But did you know…

• that he is a founding member of Central Road?
• an award-winning composer?
• a recording artist?
• a regular at Hey Nonny in downtown Arlington Heights and at the Copper Fiddle Distillery?
• both a solo performer and with his band, Marshall and the Deputies?

 There is so much more to know about Marshall Hjertstedt!  His singing career began with a junior high talent show – and the girls screamed!  And he never looked back!  Music has always been Marshall’s true love, even as he put it aside to raise a family and pursue a successful career as an architect.  He came back to music, recorded three CDs, Overflow of the Heart in 2007, Painting the Scene in 2012 which received excellent reviews and local airplay, and Carnivals & Other Tragedies in 2018, 

Also consider joining his friends at Hey Nonny on August 24^th!

Welcome back to our fall kickoff Sunday! After a summer of fun we welcome you home. Worship at 10 am, Children’s Chapel and Youth Fall Kickoff, with a Southminster Celebration after worship including the Kona Truck, balloon artist and lots of tropical fun. Wear your Hawaiian Shirts or tropical themed outfits.
