Dr. Joseph C. Morton Scholarship (2018-2019 School Year)

The Dr. Joseph Chandler Morton Memorial Scholarship Fund was established by the family and friends of Dr. Morton to help support and enable High School Senior students to attend an accredited undergraduate college or university of their choice. Dr. Morton valued higher education not just to enable students to pursue a professional career but more importantly to become well-rounded individuals.

Dr. Morton was a beloved professor (Early American History) at Northeastern Illinois University for 33 years and at Waynesburg College (Waynesburg, PA) for 3 years. He matriculated at the University of North Carolina and the University of Maryland, earning Undergraduate, Master’s and Ph.D. degrees from the latter in Early American History. He authored 2 books, was a frequent speaker for small groups, churches and organizations, and wrote a weekly newspaper column.
