Sewists, Crocheters, and Knitters

Loving Hands Stitchers is a group of sewists, crocheters, and knitters of all levels who make charitable items for St. Alexius Hospital; families and new parents at Christopher House; the homeless; and cancer patients through Lemons of Love, a cancer resource organization based in Mount Prospect. We share projects, learn techniques, and inspire one another. Meetings are held at Southminster Presbyterian Church 916 E. Central Road in Arlington Heights on the first Saturday of the month at 10:00 a.m. Join us at our next meeting on Saturday, December 1. Please note: we will not meet Saturday, November 3, due to our church-wide mission event, GEM4 weekend.

We appreciate all the support and donations of fabric and yarn we’ve received over the past 1½ years. We can always use yarn and children’s 100% cotton fabric, but we are not collecting plastic bags or accepting wedding gowns at this time. If you or someone you know would like to join our group, please call Jan Tossman at 847.259.2679 or email silkpalette@gmail.com. We would love to have you on our team!

Do You Know Someone in Need of Comfort?

Do you know someone who is hospitalized, in a nursing home, or going through a trying time? You are welcome to give them a gift from SPC’s Loving Hands Stitchers group. Please visit the Barnabus Room where you’ll find prayer shawls, wraps, small and large blankets, children’s pillow cases, and adult and children’s pressure pillows for post-surgery patients. Feel free to choose any item for someone in need of a little pick-me-up. If you have a special need in mind, email Jan Tossman at silkpalette@gmail.com or call her at 847.259.2679, and she will try to accommodate your request.
